Mature Students

What is a “mature student”?

You can apply to Sheridan's certificate, diploma and advanced diploma programs as a "mature student” if you:

  • Are at least 19 years old, and
  • Do not have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent)

Admission requirements for mature students

Every program is different. Some programs are competitive and may have extra requirements. Take the time to research your program and make sure you meet all the admission requirements.

Degree programs

Mature students are not eligible to directly enter Sheridan degree programs. You'll need to complete your Ontario Secondary School Diploma or at least two semesters of postsecondary studies (and meet the program-specific admission requirements) before applying to a degree program.

There are no tests you can take to meet the degree admission requirements.

How to apply to Sheridan as a mature student

You must apply to your program through ontariocolleges.ca.

Once Sheridan has received your application, we’ll let you know what tests you need to complete as a mature student.
